North Sydney 32 def Dubbo CYMS 16

The North Sydney Bears have kicked-off their Presidents Cup campaign with a 32-16 over Dubbo CYMS at North Sydney Oval this afternoon.

The home side got the scoring underway with second-rower Edenn Rogers-Smith and they scored twice more in quick succession through Thomas Freebairn and Thomas Steadman.

Dubbo hit back with a try to Zachary Ryan but trailed 16-6 at half-time.

The away side managed to score twice in the second half but were unable to stop the Bears as they rolled on and scored three more tries.

Thirroul Butchers 22 def Western Suburbs 16

In the battle of the Illawarra teams, the Thirroul Butchers triumphed 22-16 over Western Suburbs at Gibson Park.

The Butchers’ lone try in the first half came from centre Hayden Crosland but Wests lead 8-4 at halftime thanks to tries from Mitchell Phillips and Lachlan Hurst.

Thirroul staged a comeback in the second half, with the scores tied up at 16-all with 17 minutes left of play and they scored through two-try hero Leigh Higgins to win the match.

Hills District 20 def Western Rams 4

Hills District have shot out of the blocks to begin their Presidents Cup campaign with a 20-4 victory over the Western Rams.

Their only blemish came in the opening minutes of the match when the Rams scored the opening try, but once they got over for their first try the floodgates began to open.

Back-rower Dean Matterson crashed over to take the lead before fullback Shannon Gardiner extended the lead shortly afterwards.

Lock forward Jerry Key scored the final points of the match to seal the win.

Maitland Pickers 32 def Wentworthville 24

Maitland have won a high scoring thriller by defeating Wentworthville 32-24 in their own backyard at Ringrose Park.

Pickers centre Matthew Soper-Lawler scored the first try of the afternoon before the Magpies hit back almost immediately.

The scores see-sawed for the entire clash, with Magpies back-rower Elie El-Zakhem scoring a double.

Langbridge, O'Donnell, Rasiga and Jenkins all made the scoresheet for the Pickers in the high quality clash.
