NSWRL’s Major Competitions enter this sixth week of play and the competitions are certainly starting to heat up, with a few teams emerging as genuine premiership contenders.
The Central Coast Roosters were knocked off the top of the Harvey Norman Women’s Premiership ladder after they drew with Wentworthville Magpies and the Cronulla Sharks won again the Wests Tigers on the weekend so it will be a huge battle when the Sharks take on the Roosters at Cronulla High School this Saturday.
Wentworthville will be looking for their second win of the competition this season over the Wests Tigers at the NSWRL Centre of Excellence on Monday after putting in their best performance of the season last weekend but the Tigers will be looking to bounce back after a 12-point loss to Cronulla.
The Maitland Pickers sit two points clear of the rest of the competition after a massive 58-6 defeat of the Western Rams, with half Brock Lamb starting the scoring and booting nine from ten goals, they will look to build on their outstanding season when they take on a fifth place Thirroul at Gibson Park this Saturday.
Belrose Eagles will look to cement their spot atop of the Sydney Shield ladder when they face the Hills Bulls at Crestwood Reserve this Sunday, though the Bulls enjoyed a solid 42-16 victory over Cronulla Caringbah on the weekend so they may be a hard team to stop.
