A top of the table clash headlines the Presidents Cup this weekend when the undefeated Maitland Pickers host the North Sydney Bears at Maitland No.1 Sportsground.
Maitland have been the pick of the teams this year having won by less than 20 points on only two occasions. They have been rock-solid in defence conceding only 56 points for the entire season which is fewer than 10 points a game.
They have also set the benchmark in attack having averaged more than 36 points per game. The team second in attack are their opponents this week, so it will be interesting how the Bears attack shape up against the Pickers defence.
Brock Lamb is the household name to feature in this game; he’s had a wonderful season for Maitland since opting to play at this level rather than in an NRL squad.
The competition is heating up with two rounds left and this match is very important for the Pickers as they can seal the minor premiership. Alternatively, if the Bears win then the Pickers will no longer be outright leaders.
