Eels 2021 Junior Rep teams show flare in trials

The Junior Eels Harold Matthews, SG Ball and Tarsha Gale teams were back on the field for their first 2021 trials.

With the 2020 season stopping short due to COVID-19 last March, it was good to see our Junior Reps back in action and taking up where they left off by hosting Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs & Wests Tigers.

On what was a rather warm afternoon at New Era Stadium, Cabramatta, the U17 Harold Matthews were the first game of the program.

They played three 30 minute thirds, which proved to be a real arm wrestle.

The Eels eventually finished in a draw with both teams crossing the stripe for six tries a piece.

Meanwhile, the SG Ball were far too strong for the Bulldogs on the day, running in nine tries while defending their line without a blemish.

The squad executed their game plan with precision and looked crisp.

The Dogs struggled to hold the ball, which never allowed them to build any pressure.

The Eels took every opportunity to capitalise on their mistakes and were clinical in their approach.

Tarsha Gale played in a three way against both the Canterbury Bulldogs & Wests Tigers, with a mixed bag of results.

The girls went down two tries to none against the Wests Tigers and then managed a two tries to one victory over the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs.

The Eels gave away too much possession against the Tigers, but made up for it with united defensive efforts.

Once they found their feet in the second game, their intensity picked up and the girls started to show signs of what their team is capable of.
