Dom Young to make NRL debut

The nib Newcastle Knights can confirm boom outside back Dominic Young will make his NRL debut and become Knights player #323 against the Wests Tigers today.

Still a teenager, Young joined the Knights' first-grade squad from Huddersfield at the commencement of the 2021 pre-season as part of the top 30.

A centre or winger who stands at a towering 198 centimetres, Young made his Super League debut for the Giants at the age of 17 last season before being enticed to the Knights by Alex McKinnon.

Young's strong form caught the eyes of fans and the coaching staff alike during the trials, with the young gun also impressing in the opening round of the NSW Cup.

Today's game is already carrying extra significance, with the Knights playing to retain the Allan McMahon Shield in what will be Mitchell Pearce's 300th NRL Game.

The team will be confirmed one hour prior to NRL kick off.
