Casino RSM Cougars are fast becoming one of the largest Junior Rugby League Clubs in the Northern Region with more than 300 children registering with the club in 2021.

Fielding close to 24 teams from Under 7s through to Under 16s, including three female teams across both the tackle and tag competitions, Club President Adam Hickey said he is pleased to see the numbers exploding this year following the COVID-affected season of 2020.

Female participation makes up 20 per cent of the club’s participants which Hickey attributes to the burgeoning women’s national competition.

Hickey thanked the Casino RSM Club and sponsors for their ongoing support to help junior players in Casino to reach their full potential.

“Community support is so important for the success of our club; without our sponsors we wouldn’t have the best junior rugby league players and facilities in the group,” Mr Hickey said.

“We are also grateful to the volunteers and the parents who worked really hard last year to keep the season going, and who are really keen to get involved this year – we couldn’t do it without them.”

The Casino RSM Cougars kicked off their season on Tuesday night with the Under 12s Casino White coming up against Casino Maroons in what has been described as a great game with future stars all over the park.
