National Championships Day Two | NSW teams dominate

NSW City and Country Under 19 sides continued their dominance with comprehensive wins at the Harvey Norman National Championships in the Queensland city of Redcliffe today.

Day Two of competition produced another big win for City – 48-0 over Western Australia – after a 42-0 result against Victoria on Day One.

Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks centre Andi Robinson was again among the nine try-scorers over WA, after her hat-trick on the opening day’s play at Moreton Daily Stadium.

City now faces the QRL Sapphires on Day Three (12pm kick-off) following their handy 24-0 win over Victoria today.

NSW Country Under 19s were equally impressive today in their 52-0 win over South Australia.

Right-centre Ruby Smith (Indigenous Academy Sydney Roosters) took just 25 seconds after kick-off to beat the SA cover defence out wide to score.

That was the first of 10 tries Country put on the scoreboard including a double to left-centre Keele Browne (Illawarra Steelers).

The forwards also got amongst the action after finding holes through the middle, with prop Tabua Tuinakauvadra (Glebe Dirty Reds), hooker Sophie Clancy (Newcastle Knights), and second rower Jordyn Preston (Illawarra Steelers) all crashing over.

Country might find a tougher challenge on Day Three when they face the QRL Rubys (2pm kick-off), who enjoyed a 32-6 win over the Northern Territory on Friday in Day Two action.
