NSW Blues, McDonald's team up for advertising honour

The Brydens Lawyers NSW Blues have continued their winning ways off the field after helping McDonald's win the biggest prize in Australian advertising for the most original television commercial that was aired during the Ampol State of Origin series.

The “State of Originality” competition was run by Channel Nine and the “End of Night” campaign, created by ad agency DDB and OMD, focuses on the aftermath of an Origin game to the tune of Bjork’s “It’s, Oh, So Quiet.”

It is told through the eyes of a street sweeper as he cleans up after an Origin win with True Blues Angus Crichton, Steve Menzies and Craig Wing amongst the revellers celebrating the moment with some late night McDonald's.

“The NSWRL is proud to collaborate with McDonald's on creating award-winning advertising and the “End of Night” campaign fulfilled the brief of being simple, emotional, well branded and original,” NSWRL Chief Commercial Officer Jodie Cross said.

“I am sure that most Brydens Lawyers NSW Blues fans have been in the position of celebrating an Origin win with some McDonald's after the game which is one of the reasons it resonates so well.

“The NSWRL is proud of its ongoing relationship with McDonald's and their continued support as a partner plays a crucial role in the success of the team.”

The Brydens Lawyers NSW Blues reclaimed the Origin Shield this year after record-breaking performances; a 50-6 win in Game One in Townsville and a 26-0 win in Game Two in Brisbane.

The “End of Night” campaign was voted on by a panel of industry judges and the Australian public, with McDonald's winning $1 million in advertising inventory across Nine’s assets.
