Saifiti injury blow as Knights continue finals charge

Newcastle Knights prop Daniel Saifiti has suffered medial cruciate ligament injury during their narrow 16-14 victory against the Cronulla Sharks.

The Knights confirmed on Monday that Saifiti, who played two games for the Brydens Lawyers NSW Blues this year before missing the final match through injury, will be out of action for at least the final three matches of the regular season.

Scans have revealed nib Newcastle Knights front-rower Daniel Saifiti has suffered a high grade MCL injury to his left knee during last Sunday’s match against the Cronulla Sharks,” a club statement read.

"In good news, no other structural damage has occurred.

"Initial indications suggest the Blues enforcer will be sidelined for between three-to-five weeks, dependent upon how the injury responds to treatment."

Despite Newcastle’s forward leader being assisted from the field in the 70th minute with scores locked at 14-all, the Knights recovered for a 16-14 win to move into outright seventh position on the NRL ladder.
