True Blues join Roosters coaching staff

The Sydney Roosters have announced that True Blues Brett Morris and Jason Ryles will join the club’s senior coaching staff as Assistant Coaches for the 2022 season and beyond.

Morris has been locked in for the next two years while Ryles has been signed for three.

The Roosters have wasted little time in getting Morris into their coaching set up after he retired earlier in 2021 due to a season-ending ACL injury suffered in Round Eight.

Morris had a stellar career and will go down as one of the best ever wingers after playing 276 NRL games, 15 Origins and 18 test matches for Australia. The fan favourite finished fourth on the all-time try scoring list with 176.

“I’ve been fortunate to be able to observe Brett’s keen eye in video sessions and out on the field both at training and in games over the last three years and I’m looking forward to him applying his knowledge and contributing to our development at the Sydney Roosters in 2022,” Trent Robinson told roosters.com.au.

Ryles played 249 NRL games and has spent most of his coaching career with Melbourne Storm as an Assistant Coach (2016-2021).

“Jason is a diverse thinker with a highly-impressive football nous which he has harnessed over the last two decades as an elite player and coach,” Robinson said.

“Jason is a strong relationship builder with huge integrity.

“I have no doubt that he will contribute significantly to our quest to be better every day and I am looking forward to working with him.”
