Billy Magoulias signs with Warrington Wolves

Cronulla Sharks utility Billy Magoulias is heading to the Super League after it was announced he will join Warrington Wolves for the 2022 season with the option to extend for a further 12 months.

Magoulias represented NSW U20s in 2017 in a side that was coached by Danny Buderus and featured Cam Murray, Victor Radley, Nat Butcher, Reuben Garrick, Jesse Ramien as well as several other current NRL players.

“The squad is really well balanced and I know I’ll fit into that,” Magoulias told warringtonwolves.com.

“I want to make an impact and have a real positive effect on this team on and off the field. I’m looking to progress my game as well as the club – which hasn’t been where it wants to be in terms of the Grand Final. That’s where I want to be and winning trophies.”

2019 was a standout year for Magoulias after his left boot helped the Jets to secure both the NSW Cup Grand Final and State Championship in the game’s dying moments.

Just a few months earlier, Magoulias made his NRL debut in round 19 against the Cowboys and has since played a total of 16 NRL games with 11 of those in 2021.

With The Knock-On Effect NSW Cup season being cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Magoulias featured in just four games, averaging 93 running metres per game and he finished with six tackle busts, five offloads and an impressive tackle efficiency of 94.1 per cent.
