NSWRL TV preview | Magpies banking on big guns

An influx of NRL players could help Western Suburbs Magpies grab just their second win to give their season a reboot in The Knock-On Effect NSW Cup.

They face the fourth-placed South Sydney Rabbitohs at Ironmark High Performance Centre in Redfern on Saturday at 3pm, with the match live streamed on NSWRL TV.

Winger David Nofoaluma and lock Tyrone Peachey join hooker Jake Simpkin and halfback Jock Madden as players with NRL experience this year to try to lift the Magpies from their 11th position on the ladder.

But they will be wary of the Rabbitohs – playing at home and with halfback Dean Hawkins calling the shots who is currently second in The Knock-on Effect NSW Cup competition for line engagements (41), while his five-eighth Jack Campagnolo is fourth (37).

The other match on NSWRL TV this weekend is sixth-placed Wests Tigers taking on seventh-placed St Marys Saints in the Harvey Norman NSW Women’s Premiership on Monday night.

The Saints are out to make amends after two heavy losses over the past two rounds, to the Knights (34-12) and the Mounties (40-6) where they managed just three tries but had 14 scored against them.

The Wests Tigers started the season with back-to-back wins but have lost their last three games.

Harvey Norman NSW Sky Blues captain Kezie Apps returns to the side, coming off the interchange bench, while centre Tess Staines continues to show sparkling form with three tries from five games so far.
