Two Rugby League administrators from the Newcastle region are among 992 Australians recognised today in the Queen’s Birthday 2022 Honours List.

Dr Peter McGeoch, of Fishing Point, and Frank (Francis) Kitcher, of Speers Point, have been awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM).

Dr McGeoch, who is a Life Member of the Knights and a physician for the organisation for more than 25 years, was recognised for services to sports medicine; while Kitcher, who was a long-serving Country Rugby League Referees Association treasurer and touch judge, was honoured for services to Rugby League and tennis.

NSWRL Acting Chairman John Anderson OAM said: “The NSWRL congratulates Dr McGeoch and Frank for their recognition today in the Queen’s Birthday honours and thanks them for their service to our game.”
