NSWRL TV Preview | Origin teammates to square off

Origin teammates become club ‘enemies’ when the Harvey Norman NSW Women’s Premiership semi-finals are live streamed by NSWRL TV tomorrow with both matches to be played at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium.

Minor premiers the North Sydney Bears, with Sky Blues half Kirra Dibb at lock, take on the fourth-placed Wests Tigers, with Sky Blues captain Kezie Apps and centre Jess Sergis, in the second match at 2pm.

The opening game at 12.15pm will see second-placed Mounties, featuring Sky Blues forwards Keeley Davis, Filomina Hanisi and Simaima Taufa, facing the third-placed Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks with Tiana Penitani, Teagan Berry, Talei Holmes, Quincy Dodd and Sam Bremner.

The Sharks also boast former Origin stars Maddie Studdon and Holli Wheeler, while their hooker is the two-time NSW Under 19s Origin winner, Rueben Cherrington.

Last weekend Studdon snatched an 11-10 win for the Sharks over last year’s Minor Premiers the Central Coast Roosters in the final club round game, with her field goal two minutes before full-time.

Berry and Holmes, who were on the extended Sky Blues bench in 2022, have scored seven tries between them for Cronulla this year.

But the Sharks are up against the might of the Mounties forwards as well as Olympic (Tokyo 2021), World Cup (2018) and Commonwealth Games (2018) gold medallist in fullback Gayle Broughton.

She’s amassed six tries in eight games for the Mounties.

Although the Bears had the best attack of the competition through players like winger Pier Pritchard and five-eighth Luisa Yaranamua – each scoring five tries this year – the Wests Tigers have centre Tess Staines.

The 2019 NSW Under 18s fullback has been carving it up in 2022 with nine tries in eight games.

The Knock-On Effect NSW Cup will turn on a must-watch match between Penrith (1st) and Canterbury-Bankstown (3rd) that will also be live streamed on NSWRL TV. The Bulldogs, who are only one win away from the Panthers on the ladder, have won all six ‘away’ games so far this year.
