Mamouzelos extends with the Rabbitohs

The Knock-On Effect NSW Cup premiership- winning hooker in 2023 Peter Mamouzelos has extended with the Rabbitohs until the end of the 2027 season.

The young playmaker played an instrumental role in the Rabbitohs successful 2023 NSW Cup season, guiding his team to their first premiership in 40 years – also securing the clubs first NRL State Cup Championship beating Brisbane Easts 42-22.

Since making his debut for South Sydney in 2021, Mamouzelos has made seven NRL appearances alongside 39 NSW Cup appearances.

In 2023, Mamouzelos scored 10 tries, had nine try assists, nine-line break assists and made 817 tackles in 25 matches.

The 23-year-old has also become a mainstay in the Greek International squad, playing in 10 Test matches for Greece since 2018 – including representing his heritage in the 2022 Rugby League World Cup.

Extending his time with the Rabbitohs, Mamouzelos is looking forward to what is to come with his playing career.

“I’m really excited to be extending my time with this club,” Mamouzelos told rabbitohs.com.au

“I told my manager I didn’t want to go anywhere else. I’ve grown up here in the South Sydney area, it’s always been my team and I love this club.

“I think we have the best playing group in the comp and I’m certain we have what it takes to win the comp as well.

“I’m just really excited to have re-signed and I can’t wait for footy to start in a few weeks’ time.”

Rabbitohs Head of Football, Mark Ellison, says Mamouzelos is set to play a greater role in first grade in the coming seasons.

“Pete is a South Sydney junior that has worked hard to get into the position he finds himself with the opportunity to play more first grade in the coming seasons.

“He is relishing the opportunity to work with one of the best hookers in our game in Damien Cook,” he said of the player, who has made 17 Origin appearances for the Westpac NSW Blues.
