The NSWRL is deeply saddened to hear of the passing last night of highly-respected Magistrate and long-serving NSWRL Judiciary Chairman Bob Abood after a short illness. He was 79.
NSWRL Chief Executive David Trodden paid tribute to Abood’s significant contribution and service to Rugby League, in addition to his long and distinguished career on the bench.
“Bob made a huge contribution to Rugby League in our state as the Chairman of our Judiciary Committee for the past 34 years,” Trodden said.
“During that time, he also acted in a relieving capacity, from time to time, as Chairman of the NRL Judiciary Committee.
“He was one of those rare breed of people, who are able to combine knowledge with both integrity and humility, and his loss will be hugely felt be everyone in the Rugby League world.
“He was universally liked and respected by everyone in the game.”
NSWRL would like to extend its condolences to Abood’s family, friends and colleagues.
