McEwen a Knight for another three years

Newcastle forward Evah McEwen, who collected a stack of representative jerseys this year, has topped off her stellar 2024 season by signing an extension with the Knights until the end of 2027.

The 18 year-old made the Westpac NSW City (Under 19s) side at the annual NSWRL Country-City Championships in May, followed by the NSW State of Origin U19s side in June.

Then in October she made her international debut playing three games for Samoa, who won the 2024 Pacific Bowl defeating Papua New Guinea (34-12).

In between all that McEwen played for the Knights in the Westpac Tarsha Gale Cup Grand Final, losing to the Illawarra Steelers, before this talented backrower was elevated to the club’s NRLW squad.

She made her NRLW debut in the Round Nine win against North Queensland and then scored a try against the Sydney Roosters in Round 10.

nib Newcastle Knights Director of Football Peter Parr said the Knights Tarsha Gale 2024 Player of the Year was an impressive talent with a bright future ahead.

“Evah is in the top echelon of young NRLW players and has an exciting future,” Parr told newcastleknights.com.au

“Despite her youth, she has already handled the challenges of international and NRLW football.

“It is a wonderful news for the Knights, that one of the most prodigious talents in the game has committed to the club for at least another three years.”
