True Blues to deliver road safety messages in Parkes and Forbes

True Blues Brett Kimmorley and Kylie Hilder will visit Parkes and Forbes over three days next week to continue delivering the NSW Rugby League’s 2025 Regional Roadshow campaign, which has already spread messages about road safety to more than 8000 teenagers at 67 regional areas around the state since 2017.

The 2025 campaign started in February this year with visits to Cowra, Young, Temora and Harden followed by further visits to Tamworth and Gunnedah in May.

The Regional Roadshow is delivered in partnership with Transport for NSW as part of The Knock-On Effect campaign. The campaign reminds youth that one bad decision behind the wheel can impact an entire community, just as a ‘knock-on’ can have consequences on the field in Rugby League.

“The 2025 Regional Roadshow campaign will continue to deliver important messages about road safety across NSW,” NSWRL Chief Executive David Trodden said.

“Road tragedies can have a devastating impact on local communities, and it is great to see our True Blues get behind the campaign and share their own experiences to help make a difference.”

Transport for NSW Executive Director of Transport Safety Chadi Chalhoub said campaigns like the Regional Roadshow help young drivers understand that unsafe driving doesn’t just affect them and can impact the lives of many.

“Every decision on the road matters, and campaigns like this help bring that message home, especially for younger drivers,” Mr Chalhoub said.

“Hearing from respected athletes like Brett and Kylie makes the message personal and relatable. It reminds us that one bad choice behind the wheel doesn’t just affect the driver, it can ripple through families, friends and entire communities.”

Kimmorley played 10 games for NSW and was part of the squad that won the State of Origin series in 2000.

Hilder holds the distinction of being the first female coach in the Origin era and steered the Westpac NSW Blues Women to a memorable win in 2022. She also represented NSW in Origin, which started in 2018, and interstate matches before that.

Both Kimmorley and Hilder will share personal stories to spread The Knock-On Effect messaging on how they have been personally affected by incidents on the road.
