True Blue and Canberra Raiders coach Ricky Stuart AM, has today been announced as the latest NSW Rugby League legend to be inducted into the NSW Hall of Champions.
The former Australian and NSW halfback, who also coached his state and country, will join four other NSW sports greats in the 2025 class when they are officially added to the honour roll at the NSW Champions of Sport ceremony on Monday 24 November at The Star Event Centre in Pyrmont.
They include Graham Arnold (Football), Mo’onia Gerrard OAM (Netball), Naazmi Johnston (Gymnastics) and Mark “Mono” Stewart (Adaptive Surfing). The event will also see netball great Liz Ellis elevated to Legend Status in the NSW Hall of Champions.
On top of his decorated playing career at club level winning three first grade premierships for Canberra, the Clive Churchill Medal in 1990 and Dally M Player of the Year in 1993, Stuart represented NSW on 14 occasions as part of four series victories. He later coached the Blues to a 2-1 series win in his first year as NSW coach in 2005.
He made nine Test appearances for Australia, playing a key role in two Ashes series wins (1990, 94) and a World Cup victory (1989-92).
Stuart is also a member of the National Rugby League Hall of Fame (2018) and NSWRL The Star Hall of Fame (2022).
He joins a host of True Blues to enter the Hall of Champions such as Steve “Turvey” Mortimer OAM, Brett Kenny, Andrew Johns and current Westpac NSW Blues coach Laurie Daley, while fellow Hall of Famers Reg Gasnier AM and John Raper MBE have been elevated to Legend Status.
The NSWRL congratulates Stuart and rest of the 2025 class on their induction into the NSW Hall of Champions.
