Game Summary
The Sydney Roosters produced a commanding second-half display to run away 44-18 winners over the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles in Round Four of The Knock-On Effect NSW Cup at Wentworth Park on Saturday.
In a match originally scheduled for Thursday night at Brookvale before wet weather forced the relocation, both sides traded blows in an entertaining opening 40 minutes. The Roosters had the better of field position early but it was Manly halfback Joey Walsh who struck first, slicing through the ruck on a sharp run to open the scoring after 15 minutes.
The Roosters responded swiftly through Reece Foley, who finished off a set on the back of Junior Pauga's tireless work through the middle. Toby Rodwell's conversion locked the scores at 6-6 before the visitors seized momentum with two quick tries to Pauga and Ben Johnson, both stemming from slick back-line movements.
Trailing 14-6 with half-time approaching, Manly hit back when interchange forward Tom Summer steamed onto a short ball to score under the posts. Clayton Faulalo's conversion cut the margin to two, and a failed Roosters drop-goal attempt ensured it stayed that way at the break, 14-12.
The second half was a different story. The Roosters, aided by a swirling breeze, began to pull away through the class of their halves combination. Benaiah Ioelu crashed over from close range before Pauga collected his second with a powerful finish on the left edge, and suddenly the lead was 14-6.
Tom Rodwell then finished off a set play in the corner after Jake Elliott produced a brilliant 40/20 kick to pin Manly deep. Taylor Losalu barged over from point-blank range and Blake Steep was awarded a try in traffic as the Roosters piled on 30 unanswered points in a devastating 25-minute spell. Walsh grabbed a consolation try late, but the damage was well and truly done.
Toby Rodwell finished with five goals from seven attempts after a shaky start with the boot, while Foley racked up another try and several assists to further cement his standing as one of the competition's form playmakers.
Talking Points
Reece Foley's influence could not be overstated. He scored a try, set up several others and was at the heart of everything good the Roosters produced. His combination with Toby Rodwell is developing into one of the more dangerous halves pairings in the NSW Cup.
Junior Pauga was superb across 80 minutes. His two tries were both hard-earned finishes, but it was his relentless tackle-breaking and ability to generate second-phase play that made the biggest difference.
Jake Elliott made a significant impact off the bench, producing a match-turning 40/20 and showing glimpses of his ball-playing ability both at dummy-half and in the halves.
Joey Walsh showed his class in patches with two tries and several dangerous runs, but lacked the support he needed in the second half.
Key Moment
Elliott's 40/20 kick midway through the second half with the score at 26-12 gave the Roosters a fresh set deep in Manly territory. Tom Rodwell scored from the ensuing set to push the lead to 32-12, effectively ending the contest.

The Roosters have the bye in Round Five, while the Sea Eagles return to 4 Pines Park on Saturday to host the North Sydney Bears.
