NSWRL High Performance referee Brayden Hunt will reach another career milestone today when he makes his debut as the head referee in The Knock-On Effect NSW Cup.
Hunt will take charge of the Round 21 clash between the Newcastle Knights and Sydney Roosters, capping off a steady rise through the NSWRL refereeing pathway.
Now in his third year as a member of the NSWRL High Performance Referees Squad, Hunt has continued to progress after officiating the 2023 SG Ball Cup Grand Final. He has built valuable experience in the Leagues Clubs Australia Ron Massey Cup this season before earning his opportunity in the state’s premier Rugby League competition.
Hunt has also been a member of the NRLW refereeing squad for the past two seasons, with the exposure to the elite level further accelerating his development.
NSWRL High Performance Referees Manager Stuart Raper praised Hunt’s commitment and consistency in reaching the milestone.
“Brayden has gradually improved each year he has been with us and his training and attention to detail in officiating is second to none,” Raper said.
“He is the fittest referee in the squad and works hard on all aspects of his game through his preparation, recovery, and review process. This opportunity is thoroughly deserved, and we are excited to see him take the next step in his officiating career.”
