Those in attendance at ANZ Stadium on Wednesday 18 June last year will never forget the night the NSW VB Blues broke an eight-year drought against the mighty Queensland Maroons.
It was a magical evening in one of sport’s most famous moments - when 83,421 passionate supporters packed ANZ Stadium to inspire the Blues to victory against their arch-rivals.
“Our fans were absolutely incredible that night,” our Blues coach Laurie Daley said. “They were the driving force in us getting past the line and making history. We were motivated to clinch our first series victory since 2005 in front of our home crowd.”
And who could ever forget the magical scenes after the match as a delirious Jarryd Hayne ran into the Blatchys Blues supporter bay fans before being joined by his teammates in unforgettable celebrations.
“It was fitting that Jarryd dived into the crowd like that,” Daley said. “Blues fans were as much as a part of our success as anyone else and deserved to enjoy a moment like that.”
It’s on again with Game I on Wednesday 27 May at ANZ Stadium in Sydney - and Daley is urging all of NSW to get behind the Blues to make history yet again.
“Queensland are back with a vengeance,” Daley said. “We have to step up again if we want to be victorious and we need Blues fans to elevate us to those great heights like they did last year in defending the State of Origin Shield.”
Answer the call and get behind the NSW VB Blues when they take on Queensland in this year’s Holden State of Origin. There’s no better way to support the Blues than being a part of the Blatchy's Blues crowd - join the Official NSW VB Blues supporter bays for Origin I here.
