Showcasing the pinnacle of rugby league, State of Origin Game II stole the spotlight in Melbourne – regarded as the sports capital of Australia.

Taking place at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground, the record-breaking crowd of 91,513 fans were left enthralled.

Fans flocked from interstate to see if the NSW VB Blues could keep their Origin dream alive or whether Queensland would seal the series and reclaim the Origin Shield.

With many Melburnians intrigued by the best talent rugby league has to offer, they witnessed a match for the ages.

In a ferocious contest going right down to the wire, the VB Blues kept their Origin dream of back-to-back titles alive with a gripping 26-18 victory that captivated the national sporting public.

And although the series didn’t ultimately turn out in the favour of NSW, there is no denying the tide is slowly turning for the VB Blues with two home games in 2016.
