In 2017, the NSWRL will host a seven-week, Sydney-wide weight and age Rugby League competition in under-9s, under-11s and under-13s age groups.
Played across various venues in Sydney, the competition will follow on from the successful trial the NSWRL held in 2016, with Parramatta, and Campbelltown hosting the socially-oriented forms of Rugby League. Three age groups will this year provide a better insight into the popularity of weight-based formats; both boys and girls can take part in the under-9s and under-11s age groups.
Weight-based competitions aim to provide a fun opportunity for young boys and girls to participate in a Rugby League format which reduces the amount of size differences between players.
