Queensland Maroons star Johnathan Thurston has sustained a shoulder injury and will be sidelined for at least six weeks, according to media reports.

Channel 7 are reporting Thurston has suffered a grade two shoulder tear. If the reports are accurate, he will miss the opening State of Origin clash at Suncorp Stadium, and possibly the second match in Sydney.

More to come.
