Newly appointed Brydens Lawyers NSW Blues Coach Brad Fittler will look to restore the pride and passion in the state's colours, when the 31-time Origin representative assumes his official duties ahead of the 2018 State of Origin campaign.

Speaking at the launch of the Blues' 2018 playing kit held at Sydney's Marquee venue at The Star, Fittler made clear his desires to instil a hardened mindset that will uphold in the heat of the Origin battle.

"[The jersey] is outstanding, it's a bit different, it's fresh," Fittler said.

"It's a new era ... we talk about the new jersey, when I started playing it was all about 'the jersey'. Gus (Phil Gould) picked State of Origin teams on players who played like they were playing [State of Origin] each week for their clubs."

In an indication of the personnel Fittler himself may call upon to assist in returning the State of Origin shield to NSW, Gould's name was again mentioned, so too was fellow former Origin great, Andrew Johns.

Hear from Fittler as the coach fronted the press, his interview now playing on NSWRL.com.au.
