Hasty Finish Seals Newcastle-Blacktown Draw
Blacktown Workers Sea Eagles recorded a 28-all draw against Newcastle Knights at McDonald Jones Stadium tonight in the opening round of the Intrust Super Premiership NSW competition.
The Knights opened the scoring early with an unconverted try to winger Tom Hughes in the left corner for a 4-0 lead.

A few minutes later, the Knights drew level at 10-all through a converted try to second-rower Brodie Jones.
Newcastle then raced out to a 22-10 lead after 34 minutes through tries to lock Luke Yates and second-rower Sam Stone. Centre Ken Sio converted both tries. The score remained that way till half-time.
The Sea Eagles hit back in the 46th minute when centre Jono Wright used his strength to get the ball down for a 22-14 scoreline.
Hastings then got his second try 15 minutes with a nice step off his right foot. He converted his own try for a 22-20 scoreline.
The Sea Eagles regained the lead when hooker Joey Lussick backed up a break to score under the posts. Hastings converted for a 26-22 lead with 15 minutes remaining.
Newcastle converted a penalty goal in the 75th minute for a 28-26 lead.
Hastings then calmly landed a 30 metre penalty goal three minutes later to make it 28-all. He then missed a late field goal to try to snatch victory.
