NSW Notches Half-Century at MCG

The Brydens Lawyers NSW Blues' 22-12 win over the Queensland Maroons in Game One of the 2018 State of Origin series has taken the state's tally of Origin matches won to 50.

Since Origin's inception in 1980, NSW had registered 49 wins prior to Wednesday night's (6 June) success at the MCG – a record which now includes four matches won at Melbourne's premier stadium.

NSW five-eighth James Maloney knows the Game One win will mean little if the side fails to replicate their efforts in Origin II, on 24 June at ANZ Stadium.

"We can't wait to get back to ANZ [Stadium], it's New South Wales' home. We love playing there," Maloney told NSWRL.com.au.

"We've been in this position before, so we don't get carried away.

"It'd be great to run out to 80,000-plus, a sea of blue. I can't wait to listen to that roar and to bring it home for New South Wales."
