19 stars for 2019 | Phoenix Crossland

Newcastle has produced some fantastic halves over the years and Phoenix Crossland could be the next.

He was only born in the year 2000, but he recently said to newcastleknights.com.au that he wants to be a one-club player with 300 games to his name at the Knights.

Crossland has come through the Knights’ system and has notched up some representative honours along the way, including being a part of the NSW Under-16s and 18s teams over the past three years.

He was captain of the SG Ball team at the start of the year before moving over to the Jersey Flegg once that season finished up in May. While he is still eligible for the under-20s there is a strong chance he could feature in the Intrust Super Premiership next season that will be outstanding for his development.

Crossland got a small taste of training with the NRL squad at the start of 2018 and is now a part of the pre season setup on a full-time basis as a Newcastle development player.

Mark O’Meley is a big fan of Crossland having coached him in the Under-18s Origin game at the Melbourne Cricket Ground last June. He described him as having football awareness that is second to none.

Crossland is signed to the Knights until the end of 2021 but the passion he has for the club would say he would be there a lot longer.
