The 2020 Harvey Norman NSW Tarsha Gale Cup will unearth some of the game’s brightest young female talents with the opening round of the Under-18s competition kicking off this Saturday 8 February.

The new campaign will feature a number of exciting rule changes including teams being expanded from 11 to 13 players and games being played in two-30 minute halves instead of three-20 minute periods.

Premiers Illawarra Steelers start their title defence against the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks at Collegians Sporting Complex, while Grand Finalists Newcastle Knights will be desperate to avenge their loss in the decider with a win in their opening fixture against St George Illawarra Dragons.

The Knights were the best defensive side throughout the 2019 season and will take confidence from their last-start 38-26 win over the Dragons in the Preliminary Final.

Meanwhile, the Sydney Roosters Indigenous Academy and Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs will open their respective campaigns going head-to-head at Henson Park, with both sides desperate for a finals berth after both failing to make the top 8 in 2018.

The Bulldogs are the only club who are yet to play in the Tarsha Gale Cup finals series across the last two seasons.
