Beyond his years: Xerri represented both the NSW Under-20s and Under-18s outfits in 2018

Riverina Regional Area Manager David Skinner is hoping his appointment as NSW Under 20s Origin Manager for 2020 will have a positive impact for players in the bush.

The NSW Under 20 team will play Queensland as the curtain-raiser for Holden State of Origin III on 8 July at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium and will look to defend their title after beating Queensland 36-10 last year.

“I’m excited about the opportunity and it should a really good learning curve for me, hopefully I can bring some of those experiences back to the country,” Skinner said.

“Besides managing our Riverina academy and looking after the 12,500 players in the Bidgee region, I haven’t ever managed a specific team.”

Skinner has been involved with Rugby League for 30 years, starting his playing days at Wagga Brothers in the juniors and going on to play for Junee, Wagga Kangaroos and Turvey Park. He has been the Riverina Regional Area Manager for 13 years.
