NSWRL Covid-19 Weekly Update For Clubs: Major And Pathways Competitions

Major and Pathway Competitions:

As you may have seen in a recent NSWRL Media Release there has been a number of updates & changes to the Major & Pathways Competitions for the 2020 season. These changes are as follows:

• Canterbury Cup, Jersey Flegg Cup, Women’s Country Championships and Men’s Under 23s Country Championships. These are CANCELLED for the 2020 season.

• Junior Reps - SG Ball Cup, Tarsha Gale Cup, Harold Matthews Cup, Andrew Johns Cup & Laurie Daley Cup. These are CANCELLED for the 2020 season.

• Ron Massey Cup, Sydney Shield & Harvey Norman Women’s Premiership.These are suspended until at least 31st May.

*Rugby League activity that is suspended includes all training and playing

 

Community Rugby League:

All community competitions are suspended until at least 1 May.

*Rugby League activity that is suspended includes training, carnivals and matches.

 

COVID-19 Information:

It’s important to avoid over-exposure to media, get the facts on what is going on from accurate and reputable sources. Remember that social media will portray bias views and conspiracy theories.

Wellbeing Support:

To assist in getting through these times, in conjunction with the NRL, we have put together some strategies we all can use to support and empower ourselves and those around us to navigate these uncharted waters.

It is a weird and overwhelming time; however these are some of the things you have control over. Some of you and those around you will start to experience forms of anxiety and just know this is a normal protective response from the body in times of stress and uncertainty.

We are all in this together and will get through it. Please share the below mental health tips links direct with your players and coaching staff, these are extremely useful strategies to assist your club in these difficult times.

Remote and Individual Training:

To assist players and clubs the NSWRL has developed a support document which provides guidance to individual players to implement a progressive four week Strength and Conditioning plan. CLICK HERE to view the plan and please again share this with your players and coaching staff as required. The situation from last week remains the same, it is recommended that, where possible, the club provides players with training programs that they can carry out at home on their own.

*Clubs cannot arrange “satellite” or “small group” sessions for the squad.
