Mel Gleeson has made sure children and families for one team at Scone Thoroughbreds have never missed a single minute of the action.

Gleeson, who has been put forward as a Wonder Woman to help celebrate the NRL’s Women in League round, started cutting up footage of the Scone Thoroughbreds Under 6s in 2016 and has never missed one of their games ever since.

For the past six years (the kids are now playing Under 11s) she supplies each child in the team with their own highlights reel complete with her own commentary.

“Mel Gleeson is a wonder,” friend Polly McCardell said.

“The highlights reels she provides have always been special but they’ve taken on more significance in 2020 with COVID-19 restrictions limiting the number of people who can watch the team play.

“Grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins and friends who would otherwise miss out on the action can share the joy of a try saved or a try made thanks to Mel and her dedication to our team.

“In future years, when the scouts come calling for our junior superstars, their highlights reels will all be ready to roll. All thanks to Mel.”
