Roosters crowing into Group 6 Grand Final

Please note: Top photo is from last year's Grand Final

Minor and defending premiers Thirlmere-Tahmoor Roosters have booked a spot in the Group 6 Grand Final with a 22-20 victory over Oakdale Workers at Sid Sharpe Memorial Oval on Sunday.

Winger John Ryan was the standout for the Roosters after scoring a hat-trick which helped the Roosters to a five tries to two lead but fullback Daniel Roberts could only manage one conversion to give the Workers hope.

Ryan was aptly awarded Player’s Player for his efforts.

The week before, the Roosters signalled their premiership intentions by claiming the minor premiership on the final day of the regular season with a massive 66-4 win over the Mittagong Lions.

The Roosters have been one of the standouts in this year’s five-team, six-round competition, registering five wins and one loss to Oakdale in Round 3.

The Roosters will now face the winner of this Sunday’s preliminary final match between Oakdale Workers and Campbelltown City Kangaroos at Thirlmere Sportsground.

Last year’s Grand Final went down the wire as the Roosters defeated the Picton Magpies by two points to claim their first premiership since 2008.
