Former Newtown Jets premiership-winner Mose Masoe will deliver the match ball for kick-off at the 2020 UK Super League Grand Final between St Helens and Wigan on Friday 27 November.

The inspirational former Hull KR prop suffered a career-ending spinal injury during pre-season and was told he would never walk again but worked tirelessly to defy the odds and in May he took his first, unaided steps.

“It is a great honour for me and my family to be asked to deliver the match ball at the Betfred Super Grand Final,” Masoe told the Hull KR website.

“The support of everyone in the rugby league family has been truly humbling; the support and words of so many people has kept me inspired and motivated each day to keep making progress.

“I can’t thank everyone enough. By walking out with the ball, I hope it can inspire others to continue to work hard, and take tiny steps each day towards their goal.”

Masoe started his career with the Sydney Roosters’ National Youth Competition team in 2008 before moving on to their feeder team, the Newtown Jets, in the NSW Cup.

He played a key role in the elimination semi-final against the North Sydney Bears in 2012 before going on to win the premiership with the club that year.

He played for Penrith Panthers in 2013 before switching to the UK Super League where he won a title with St Helens in 2014. He returned to the NRL to play for St George Illawarra Dragons in 2016 but missed the season with a knee injury before signing with Hull KR in 2017.
