Arthur to keep pressure on Brown at Eels

True Blue Jamie Soward believes Jakob Arthur has the goods to keep the pressure on Parramatta five-eighth Dylan Brown following his recent performances for the Eels in the NRL.

Arthur, who came into the Eels side due to Brown’s suspension for dangerous contact, has made the most of his opportunity scoring two tries and making two try assists in three games.

“I like the look of Jakob Arthur he’s going to put pressure on Dylan Brown going forward if Dylan Brown isn’t performing up to Brad Arthur’s standards”, Soward told The Short Side for nswrl.com.au

Despite Parramatta suffering back-to-back losses against Manly and South Sydney, Soward said Arthur’s skill in field position was crucial.

“You see the vision that he had in being able to kick for himself and realise the fullback’s in the line last week in a game where they needed to score some points quickly,” Soward said.

With Brown returning to first grade, Arthur has moved back to the Eels’ side for The Knock On Effect NSW Cup match against Newcastle Knights at McDonald Jones Stadium on Sunday.

Soward said there would be additional interest in the Knights-Eels double header with the nephew of immortal Andrew Johns, Jack Johns, playing his first NRL game in Knights colours.

Johns who played two NRL games for South Sydney in 2020 has moved to the club where both his uncle and father, Matthew Johns, won a premiership with in 1997.
