James Tedesco re-signs with Sydney Roosters

Westpac NSW Blues captain James Tedesco has re-signed with the Sydney Roosters until the end of 2025.

Since joining the club in 2018, Tedesco has established himself as one of the best players in the world and has built an impressive resume in the process. The Roosters captain has won the Jack Gibson Medal, which is awarded to the club’s best player, a record five times.

Tedesco has also won the 2019 Dally M Medal, the Dally M Fullback of the Year in 2016, 2019 and 2022, and the Dally M Captain of the Year in 2021.

It was a clean sweep for Tedesco at the 2022 Brad Fittler Medal after the World Cup winning captain became the first player in history to win all three major awards.

He won his third Brad Fittler Medal for the Blues’ best player (he also won in 2018-19), the True Blue award, which is determined by the coaching staff, and the Daily Telegraph People’s Choice award.

“I’m proud to lead this club and I’ve enjoyed my career here at the Roosters so far,” Tedesco told

“We’re a close group and I’m looking forward to continuing to work with the team we have here and add to the Roosters’ rich history.”

Tedesco has made 19 State of Origin appearances for NSW, and has been captain for eight, leading the Blues to a historic series victory in 2021.
