Dragons win is getting closer: Goodwin

St George Illawarra Dragons coach Bronx Goodwin says his players in The Knock-On Effect NSW Cup are building towards a win but must pay more attention to two key areas.

Their Round Six game with second-placed North Sydney Bears will be live-streamed on NSWRL TV on Easter Saturday.

Kick-off is 1.45pm at Collegians Sporting Complex in Wollongong.

Goodwin has watched his team lose by 30 points to the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, 20 to the Newcastle Knights, and 14 to the Newtown Jets before a 26-all draw with the Parramatta Eels last week.

“From Round Two we’ve been building but obviously not got the win,” Goodwin told nswrl.com.au.

“Last week was our most complete performance and I feel the win isn’t far away.

“It’s our set completions that have been killing us, and our discipline. We’ve worked on it and we’re getting a whole lot better.

“Like I said, we’re not far away from a win if we can fix up the error count, in particular because everything revolves around it.”

There are some positives for the Dragons this season with winger Sione Finau fourth in NSW Cup when for tackle-breaks, while goal-kicking winger Alexander Lobb (pictured above) is equal fifth as top points-scorer.

“Sione is one of our bigger improvers,” Good win said.

“His touches are good, slowly but surely he’ll be a really good player.”

Finau’s brother Haele Finau has been coming off the bench to replace hooker Connor Muhleisen and scored a try in Round Four.

“Jayden Sullivan is also back with us this week (at halfback) and he’ll be trying to prove a point,” he said, after the 21-year-old was left out of the NRL squad.

“But he hasn’t been kicking stones at training – he’s been pretty hot.

“And our whole forward pack has been doing well in really laying a platform for us. They’ve just been a bit unlucky.”

The other NSWRL TV game over the Easter Weekend is Saturday’s Harvey Norman NSW Women’s Premiership game between the Dragons and the North Sydney Bears.

The schedule is:

Saturday 8 April

The Knock-On Effect NSW Cup Round Six: St George Illawarra Dragons v North Sydney Bears, Collegians Sporting Complex in Wollongong, 1.45pm

Harvey Norman NSW Women’s Premiership Round 10: St George Dragons v North Sydney Bears, at Collegians Sporting Complex, 3.45pm
