One point thriller seals it for the Hawks

A last-minute field goal from halfback Noah Ryan has seen the Ryde-Eastwood Hawks secure a 31-30 win over Hills Bulls at St Marys Leagues Stadium today.

Chasing their first win of the season the Bulls started the match strongly, scoring off their first set of the game through fullback Ammaron Gudgeon for a 6-0 lead.

The Bulls maintained their momentum for the opening 10 minutes of the game, but the tide started to turn after they failed to find touch from a penalty.

The Hawks rallied to score back-to-back tries within seven minutes, with back-rower Tyler Cassel successfully kick landing a conversion to take the advantage 10-6.

The lead kept changing hands over the next eight minutes after both teams scored and converted their respected tries.

The Bulls regained the momentum just before half-time, with Bobby Miller and Sean Garner scoring tries before the break to set up a 24-16 lead.

Picking up where they left off, the Bulls attack proved too good once more against the Hawks, scoring in the opening two minutes of the second half through centre Daniel Ala.

Bulls halfback Brad Keighran was perfect off the tee, successfully converting his fifth goal of the day to extend the margin to 30-16.

The Hawks hit back in the 56th minute through forward Gordon Whippy who pushed his way passed defenders to score and reduce the margin to 10 points (30-20).

The Hawks then scored two tries in four minutes through forward Whippy and five-eighth Tyler Colley to trail by only two points (30-28).

A penalty awarded to the Hawks in the 70th minute, saw Cassel tie the scores up at 30-all.

Both teams went set for set before a costly error from the Bulls gifted the Hawks great field position with only two minutes remaining.

Ryan then kicked a field goal in the dying moment of the game to seal a thrilling win for the Hawks.
