Winning a Minor Premiership, let alone three in a row, is no easy feat, and by doing just that St Marys Saints have put themselves in a strong position to reclaim the Leagues Clubs Australia Ron Massey Cup that they last lifted in 2023.
Equally extraordinary is the win rate (87.3 per cent) St Marys has produced over the past three seasons, coming away victorious in 48 of a possible 55 matches.
While the 2025 squad has no shortage of strike in attack with an average winning margin of 24.2, they also boast the competition’s best defensive record after conceding 238 points.
They have plenty of strike power across the park including former NRL players Christian Crichton, the brother of True Blue and Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs player Stephen Crichton, Michael Jennings, Bryce Cartwright and 2022 Leagues Clubs Australia Ron Massey Cup Player of the Year Brad Keighran.
Long-serving St Marys Football Manager Adam Przybyla, who was there for the Saints’ maiden Leagues Clubs Australia Ron Massey Cup Grand Final win two seasons ago, knows all too well what goes into setting up a club for ongoing success. And the team’s on-field efforts are the icing on the cake.
“A remarkable achievement that speaks volumes about the quality, consistency, and determination within the squad,” Przybyla said.
“Sustaining that level of excellence over multiple seasons is no small feat, and full credit must go to the players, coaches, and support staff.”
It’s one thing to put together a strong roster year on year, but to consistently turn the hours on the training paddock into strong performances on game day for the past three seasons is an impressive accomplishment.
Coach Darren Baker said there was plenty of work also going in off the field to provide his players with a platform to be at their best.
“To win three straight minor premierships is something the entire club should be proud of,” Baker said.
“It’s a credit to the players, staff, and everyone behind the scenes who contribute each week. We’ve built a strong culture based on work ethic, accountability, and belief in each other.
“The job’s not done yet, but we’re in a good place heading into finals.”
The Saints have a well-earned bye to finish off the regular season, before returning to the field on Saturday 30 August for the Major Semi-final at St Marys Leagues Stadium.
