Borg claims 2025 Denis Braybrook Award

Group 7 Referees Association President Jarrad Borg, has won the 2025 Denis Braybrook Community Official of the Year Award, presented to him at the recent NSWRL Referees Association Life Members Reunion.

The award comes after Borg became the youngest Life Member in the history of the Group 7 association earlier this month.

Since beginning his career as a match official at age 13 in 2007, Borg’s near two-decade involvement in Group 7 Rugby League helped it achieve one of its most successful eras after he assumed the role as President of the Referees Association.

Throughout his time at the executive level, the number of Group 7 Referees members has improved significantly over a four-year period, from 80 in 2022 to 175 this year.

NSWRLRA Executive Officer Greg McCallum had high praise for the long-serving Group 7 official.

“Jarrad’s contribution as the chairman and executive leader of Group 7 Referees Association and his activities match precisely what the Denis Braybrook criteria looks for,” McCallum said.

“Jarrad Borg is not only a role model for Group 7 officials but a significant role model for other associations that are members of the NSWRLRA.”
