NSWRL was deeply saddened to hear the passing of renowned Rugby League historian and author Terry Williams.
Terry’s contribution to Rugby League spanned decades, during which time he became one of the most knowledgeable and passionate storytellers of the sport’s history.
He was the NSWRL historian for many years, and was a driving force behind the NRL Museum at Rugby League Central, where his deep understanding of the game, its people and its stories made the museum a place of learning and connection for countless visitors.
Terry authored several significant works on the history of Rugby League, including definitive books such as “Out of the Blue” (1993) and “Through Blue Eyes” (2008), which remain essential references for the history of his beloved Newtown Rugby League Club and the broader game’s history.
His research and storytelling extended to contributions to the NSWRL Referees Association Centenary Publication “Above All for Rugby League” (2008), and his insights were sought for major commemorative events and exhibitions.
Above all, Terry was generous with his time and deeply committed to Rugby League and its community.
NSWRL extends its sincere condolences to Terry’s family and friends.
