James Tedesco is feeling confident ahead of Origin I - especially after being chosen at fullback ahead of teammates Jarryd Hayne and Josh Dugan.

The Wests Tigers custodian, who will line up for his second Origin game after a victorious debut last year, has been selected as the man to spark the VB Blues' attack from the back in the series opener, signalling belief from Laurie Daley.

"It's confidence boosting I guess," Tedesco said. "Those two have shown that they can play anywhere in the back line and still have great games.

"I think just to have those guys outside me will take a bit of heat off me and I'll be able to use them whenever I can."

He also noted the "refreshing" change for he and club teammate Aaron Woods, who have both headed into Origin camp and will spend some time away from the Wests Tigers.

"I think getting away is a good thing, to freshen us up a bit, me and 'Woodsy'," Tedesco added. "We can take a lot of confidence back to our team."
