The NSW VB Blues players have been polled in the lead-up to Origin I, 2017, with this the second in their series of answers.
We asked them a range of questions, with this "Who was your favourite Origin player?".
Andrew Johns and Brad Fittler were the two common answers, with both players enjoying significant success in the early 2000s.
James Tedesco:
“Probably Freddy Fittler - he was my favourite player at the Roosters growing up and watching him play for NSW as well.”
Aaron Woods:
“I loved Ben Kennedy and Jason Ryles. Kennedy [had an] ability to offload through the line and was an absolute competitor. Jason Ryles was a big front-rower – he was one of my favourite players so I just loved watching him play all the time.”
Josh Jackson:
“For me playing in the back row, guys like Nathan Hindmarsh, Craig Fitzgibbon and Andrew Ryan. I grew up watching them on TV, I’d have to say them.”
James Maloney:
“I always used to follow Freddy and Joey growing up, we play similar positions and they were obviously the cream of the crop.”
Brett Morris:
“Timmo [Shaun Timmins] is definitely up there, but you can’t go past Freddy and Joey. Those guys were outstanding players and every-time they put on the Blues jersey you were confident they were going to win.”
