Nickname: JessSouthwell’s 13 kicks were a feature in Game One but her 16 kicks for 350 metres in Game Two on a very wet track was almost miraculous. She had four forced drop-outs to add to Queensland’s misery at Allianz Stadium.
Southwell became the youngest NSW Origin player at the start of the 2023 series - 18 years and 109 days. She just eclipsed the previous NSW Origin record held by Brad Fittler (18 years 114 days).
Southwell won a Commonwealth Games gold medal in 2022 with Rugby Sevens and then switched to Rugby League where she already has two NRLW premierships – with the Knights (2022, 2023).
